Neglected Blog

It's been a while since I've been on Blogger or blogged for that matter. No matter how many times I tell myself "You need to update your blog!" It always falls last on my to-do list. Anyway....

Last month, September, I had to give Cabela back to Krystal because ever since I started high school I didn't have that one on one time that Cabela needed and my school work increased as the year went on. So we called up Krystal and told her the sitch and asked her if it was possible to give Cabela back. Long story short Cabela is gone and I feel like a failure for not giving her that extra time.

Here are some new (sorta) pictures and old ones of Cabela.

I just love her eyes!

Holding a DOWN!

Also loving her fluffy ears

Hope you find a loving home baby girl!

Four Months!

I have seen these posts on Blogger and thought, why not give it a shot?

I have had Cabela for about two months now and here are four things she has learned and I have learned about her!

  1. She is super hyper! I know I have said it before but I can not stress it enough!
  2. Cabela has the command SIT down! (We are working on DOWN)
  3. She will chew on anything! She really likes anything wood or anything hard.
  4. And last, but not least, Cabela ADORES PEOPLE! She loves kids and other animals. She hates being alone! (need to work on that!)

She Is Here!

Well the little girl is here! Sorry it took me so long to post but she is a very busy puppy!
Her name was Prissy but we changed it to Cabela.
Her momma is a Labrador but we don't know what daddy is.
We are thinking she maybe has some Spaniel, Weimaraner (her eyes are green like the breed) and some golden.

She is very soft and fluffy! It is funny because her brothers and sister look COMPLETELY different!

The one on the right looks almost like a beagle!
Cabela
Another looks like a German Shepherd and the last looks like  Boxer. They are all related!

Cabela had a number of problems including worms, a hernia and fleas. The worms are gone as is the hernia, but the fleas keep reappearing! I really hate fleas.

She is a chewer, but she will stop when told (and if there is nothing else chewable on the floor). She is a very hyper puppy!
Cabela LOVES kids. But she likes to nip at them.

Anyway to end this on a good note Cabela is potty trained! *cough, Sydney, cough* ;)  Mostly. She had a accident yesterday, but it was because I was being to slow getting outside. She has not had anybody call about her yet, but we will see!

Busy Weekend!

There was a little confusion with getting Blue this weekend.
At first Blue was coming to me Friday afternoon. Two hours before Blue was supposed to arrive, Kristal called and said that there was a person that was interested in adopting Blue.

Saturday my dad took the younger girls out for some 'Daddy Time' and took them out to eat and do things that little girls like doing. They stopped by Tractor Supply to take something back. Well on that Saturday Kristal happened to be there doing an adoption event. She said that the person that was wanting to adopt Blue never showed up and he still was with her.

Later on my mom and I took my sister to a birthday party and ran by Tractor Supply to talk to Kristal and see what dogs she had. BLue was with her and four of the cutest puppies, one of which I really wanted. We asked her when we could get a dog and she said after the event so that the dogs/puppies might be able to get a home.

So long story short we got Blue. He is the sweetest thing and also one of the smartest dogs I have met. We (my sister and I) taught him the commands SIT, DOWN and ROLL OVER in one night. Sunday night we got together with my grandparents and had a cookout. After we ate we were sitting down when we heard a loud growl. Blue had growled at my youngest sister, Elizabeth who is two. He did it a second time after she was hopping near him and accidentally stepped on his Blue's feet. My mom decided to give him back to Kristal, although she said that Lizzie deserved to be snapped at for doing what she did, but didn't want to take any chances.

So this afternoon I will be giving Blue back in exchange for this little girl!
I will be getting the one on the left, the more golden looking one.

NAME GAME:
Now, I know she is not a guide dog puppy like you would usually do the name game with, but I think it would be fun!
I'm pretty sure you all know the rules,  basically you guess a name that starts with the letter I am going to tell you. I have no prizes to give out, so this will just be for fun! Anyway:
She is a female and her name starts with:
P
You can also guess what she is mixed with. I only know the mommas breed.
Have fun!

I'm Ready!!

I spent the whole afternoon yesterday getting everything in place for Blue.

  • I washed the crate, which was out in the garage, because my sister used it for her cat and kittens and because there was spiderwebs and a dead spider the size of my palm in it. Well okay maybe not that big.
  • I rearranged my room, so that I could put the kennel and the dog bed side to side.

  • I made sure I still had everything I need for Blue. For example: food, leash, shampoo, brush, ect.

  • I went through the whole house and cleaned the parts that needed to be cleaned (that is what I do when I wait for things like this).

I am very excited about fostering again, and can not WAIT to get Blue. I want to train him really well so that he is a manageable dog and he knows alot of tricks. What fun tricks do y'all think I should teach him? Would LOVE to hear your answers!

He's Coming!

Yesterday I had to fill in some holes in the yard that Annie dug and Wrangler only made deeper.

My agreement with my dad was, if I fill up all the holes in the back yard then he would think about getting a new foster dog. So yesterday I borrowed a wheelbarrow from our nieghbor down the street and used some dirt that he needed out of his yard, and filled the holes.
I was supposed to get Blue today, but something came up so we had to change the date.

Blue will be coming on Friday, around twelve!
I need to get out all the dog stuff again and put the crate back in my room and pick up anything around the house that will make him sick.  And then wait for what already feels like forever.

New Dog!

Finally I am getting a new dog.

His name is Blue and he is a Australian Shepherd/ Retriever mix. He is over one year and maybe more than two years old, I don't know. Here he is!
Here he is, lying in the shade with another dog.

Kittens!!!!

Hey everybody!
I have been trying to come up with a topic for a post for awhile now and, as you can see, I found a pretty good one.
About six weeks ago my sisters cat gave kittens. Well, technically it's not her cat but she seems to have taken ownership over it.

I don't have any pictures on my computer of them, my computer wont accept the camera for some reason. It has before, (hence all the other pics)but it decided that it would not recognize the file. I got some really good ones of them climbing up the fence this morning. Callie is the momma cat, and she had five babies.

  •  Guinevere- (or Gwen as I call her) Is a female and she looks like her momma, and a brown tiger. My favorite one.
Story Behind The Name Guinevere:
Well, I just liked the name personally. :)
  • Maverick- (or Mavi as we have nick named her) Is a dark gray colored female, and she has light gray and cream colored stripes.
Story Behind The Name Maverick:
Whenever Callie was pregnant, we joked that it looked like she had swallowed a basketball. Then Emma said we should name one of the kittens Basketball. I was like "No way!" so she was named Maverick.

  • Kiza- Kiza is a female and Maverick's twin so to speak. She is just lighter and has more white on her face.
Story Behind The Name Kiza:
I read one of Gail Carson Levine books called Ever, and LOVED IT! The main characters name is Kiza.

  • Eragon- Is pure black male with blue eyes. Also my favorite.
Story Behind The Name Eragon:
Again named after one of my favorite characters in one of my favorite books, Eragon.

  • Byron- Byron is white with patches of brown stripes.
Story Behind The Name Byron:
One of Emma's favorite characters name in one of the few books she has read.

Byron and Mavi have found forever homes with two of our friends.

To Abby And Christina, My BFFS:
This post is for you guys since yall have not seen them. :)

Puppy Meeting!

I was SO excited to go to the LSPR meeting last night! The meeting was for new volunteers and new puppy raisers. The subject of the meeting was: Every Thing You Need To Know About Puppy Raising. Emma and my mom and I went, and I think Emma was the one who asked the most questions! :) The CFR, Sandi Alsworth, came and explained the role of a Guide Dog, how they raise the puppies, and what we can do to join the volunteer movement. It was very informative and I learned a few things, like the whole insurance thing were you and your puppy are insured by GDB. I never knew that!

We talked to Beth (one of the leaders) afterwards and I still have to go to one of their Puppy 101 classes, have the house inspection and puppy sit. I am trying to find a way to get money regularly so I can pay for gas for the trips back and forth for the puppy outings/meetings (that is, like, the only way I could raise). I babysit, and do odd jobs around the house so that is one way to get money, but not enough. Know anyway jobs a thirteen (about to be fourteen next month)  could do?

I saw one of the new puppies, Oslo. He is a black lab and so cute! His raiser is a new raiser. She became a raiser during the months that I did not go to the meetings, which is aLOT! One man had asked how long it takes to get a puppy after you send in a application. Beth asked H (The new raiser) how long it took for her to get Oslo and she said about three months, and in my mind I was like "Have I been gone that long?" I hope to go to the Puppy 101 class ASAP and get started (again :P) towards raising!

It Has Been a Long Time...

Since I have been to a puppy meeting. My last one was October I think. I am going to one tonight with my mom and my sister Emma. I might bring my camera and get some pictures of the new puppies! I can not wait!

Puppy...?

I have a friend who would also like to start raising a guide dog puppy with me, but there are some problems.

One, gas. Gas is SOOOOOO expensive right now that unless we find a way to make some aLOT of  money or find enough people up here that are interested in raising so LSPR (Lone Star Puppy Raisers) will move some of the outings up here, then we will have a difficulty getting to the meetings.

Actually, gas is the main problem. My parents said I could raise in the next month if prices went down. *please Lord*

It has been awhile since one of the dogs from the LSPR group went of for formal training, but I just learned that yesterday. Fred was the little puppy when I first came to my first meeting, and from the beginning, one of my favorites. I was so happy to see him on posters for dog food in PetCo when I went in. I would point it out to my sister and quietly (haha yeah right :) say "Emma, thats Fred!!!!" and the workers and shoppers standing by looked at me like I had gone of the edge.

At the meetings he was one of the best behaving, and so mellow and calm. Whenever H would give him a command he would obey and look up at her like she was the best thing in the world, and eagerly wait for the next command. I will miss him greatly, but know he is going to do what he was meant to, and that is not petting his soft, silky ears. *smiles*

Good luck Fred!

Six Flags Over Texas!

Yesterday I went to Six Flags with a bunch of my friends and had SOOOO much fun! I have gone three years in a row, and each year I was to afraid to ride the "Big Rides" as my little sister calls it. Not this year my friends.

Last year M and I were WAY to scared to ride The Flashback, The Shockwave, Mr. Freeze, The Texas Giant, and The Titan, to name a few. That night, on our way home we said we would ride as many "Big Rides" as we could.

So this year one of the first rides we rode was the Batman. You sit in a seat, with your legs dangling out and the track is above you, attached to the seats. Then you go out and do loops and go upside down and scream your head off!

Yes, I did ride the Texas Giant, though I was seriously reconsidering going on the ride when we started to go up the HUMONGO hill. The sign right before you go down that read, "Wait, can we talk about this?" did not help. But, I ended up going on it two more times. :)
Then I went on the Titan three times and the Batman again. All in all, it was a pretty nice day. I was dizzy when we got of the Titan after riding it two times in a row, and had to take a break from that ride and went on it again before we left and I still had a headache three hours later! We ended the day by going to El Chico.

I don't know when something worth telling about will happen, so I don't know when I will put up a post but, hey, I can't read the future so you might be reading a post tomorrow!

Blogger Fail!!!!!

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry that I have not blogged in FOREVER!!!!! Just to let everyone know, Wrangler was adopted, I don't know any details, or who even adopted him! Wrangler was one of the cutest puppies I have owned/raised, and it was super hard to give him up. He had this cute little habit of when he wanted to go outside, he would hop up and down in front of you to get your attention. :) I will not be raising or fostering in May or June, because we will be out of the state for a while and I will be trying out for a play, but if I do not get in the play, puppies here I come! :) Again, I am soooooooo sorry this is late.

What to Choose, What to Choose.

I have been sick with the stomach bug since last night and I was just laying just laying in bed bored, so I thought, "Hey, why not post a few posts?" So as I'm laying down my mom comes in and asks me if I would like to

A. Foster another dog
Or
B. Try out for the town play, Sarah Plain and Tall

"You can't do both. You would not have the time."
So I am trying to figure out whether or not to foster again or try out for the play. So I wrote a Pros and Cons list.

                 Trying out for play
Pros                                                    Cons
1. The fun of it!                                  1. The endless hours of practice
2. Meeting new people                       2. Practicing all those lines
3. The thrill of being onstage              3. Less family time
4. People wanting your autograph. :)  4. You always have that one person who drives you crazy!

                                                           Fostering a puppy
                  Pros                                                                      Cons
                  1. Having a dog around the house                       1.Waking up early in the morning
                  2. Training the dog. :)                                          2. Having to pick up messes
                  3. The afternoon walks
                  4. Cuddling with the dog at night. :)

So there you have it! I am probably going to foster again, since the auditions for the play are at the end of March. Maybe the dog will have been adopted by then, but who knows. I am going to contact Krystal (the lady that I get the dogs from) tomorrow and see if she has any dogs that I can take. She was texting my mom pictures of some dogs that she has that are ready, and there are these ADORABLE Saint Bernard mixes. I'll see if I can get any pictures. She also has a Sheltie mix (4 mo. old) and a black lab (6 mo. old). So we'll see!

Abegail

Hi everybody! Great news. Annie left on Saturday, and this Monday I received a German Shepherd, Golden Retriever, Great Pyrenees mix.

She is very skittish around the little kids, and my mom                                                                                 said dogs that are skittish tend to bite. I highly doubt that she will but my mom has contacted the lady and asked her to take her back. :(
I am really bummed. She is SOOOOO nice!
I will not be able to get another one until I am done with a play that I'm in. (Charlotte's Web. I am one of the narrators, which the director said he wanted to be crows.)
Her name is spelled a little different than I am used to. I have a younger sister named AbIgail, not AbEgail. But whatever. :)

I grabbed these pictures from the Red River SPCA website, and she looks aLOT skinnier in the pictures than in real life. She is all fluffy, and fat. she reminds me of when the little girl on Despicable Me says "It's so fluffy I could DIE!!!" and, "IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!!!!" (If you have not seen that movie I highly recommend it.)
Well that's all for now, I will update y'all later!

Long Time, No Blog!

It has been forever since I last got on blogger! I would like to say my internet connection was too slow, but we fixed it so I can only say that I was being lazy.

I have VERY good news! Annie has been adopted! She will be a partner to a little disabled boy. I just hope she does well there. She still has problems chewing, and she is scared of loud noises.

I am a little sad that she is going, but have been telling myself from day one that she is not my dog.
Annie will be leaving Saturday at eleven in the afternoon.

I might get another foster dog, but it's all up to my parents. I'll keep you updated!

Annie

Okay, so I said that I would tell you guys about Annie and here it is.
Annie is a female, now nine month old, black lab puppy, and she has a little five point white star on her chest. Now, when I saw her star and her white tipped toes, I was thinking that she was a mix. But my mom researched black labs, and found out that the earliest black labradors had white spots on their chest.

Annie looks all lab. She has the lab lips, the tail, the coat and all the other traits of a labrador. She was going to be adopted, but the guy never called, so I get to keep Annie for at least two more months. *smile*

Annie and her sister Danny, were found together on the side of the road in a ditch. The lady that found them had driven by after work that night and saw them laying there, and in the morning, on her way to work, they were still there so she took them in and the rest is history. Danny is really dark chocolate, and in certain lightings she looks all black. One of the best thing about Annie, is that she has not had one accident inside, or in her crate. Go Annie!

One of the problems with Annie is that when I let her out side, she goes crazy! Any shoes that have been left outside are in her mouth in minutes. And when I say COME she darts away. If the little girls are outside, she wants to play with them sooooo bad. She will jump on them, do a little play bow, and run around them. This FREAKS them out. Does anybody have any tips on how to make her calm down outside?

THINGS ANNIE HAS LEARNED:
1. How to SIT on command. (with a little persuasion)
2. To go into her kennel willingly.
3. To walk on a leash. (this one is a life saver!)
4. To go to bed on command.

Quick Post!

This is going to be a really quick post. I am still interested in puppy raising but because of the gas prices I cant at the moment. BUT I am fostering a female, 8 month old black lab named Annie right now. She is VERY sweet with a streak of stubborn. She might be adopted this week, but the man that might be adopting her is also looking at her sister Dannie(or Danny). Her and her sister were both found on the side of the road when they were little puppies. I will give more info later!
